27:1

Isaac had grown old and his eyesight was fading. He summoned his elder son Esau.

'My son.'

'Yes.' 
Vayehi ki-zaken Yitschak vatichheynah eynav mer'ot vayikra et-Esav beno hagadol vayomer elav beni vayomer elav hineni.

אוַֽיְהִי֙ כִּֽי־זָקֵ֣ן יִצְחָ֔ק וַתִּכְהֶ֥יןָ עֵינָ֖יו מֵֽרְאֹ֑ת וַיִּקְרָ֞א אֶת־עֵשָׂ֣ו | בְּנ֣וֹ הַגָּדֹ֗ל וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ בְּנִ֔י וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו הִנֵּֽנִי:

27:2

'I am old and I have no idea when I will die. 
Vayomer hineh-na zakanti lo yadati yom moti.

בוַיֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּה־נָ֖א זָקַ֑נְתִּי לֹ֥א יָדַ֖עְתִּי י֥וֹם מוֹתִֽי:

27:3

Now take your equipment, your dangler and bow, and go out in the field to trap me some game. 
Ve'atah sa-na cheleycha telyecha vekashtecha vetse hasadeh vetsudah li tsa'id.

גוְעַתָּה֙ שָׂא־נָ֣א כֵלֶ֔יךָ תֶּלְיְךָ֖ וְקַשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ וְצֵא֙ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה וְצ֥וּדָה לִּ֖י צָֽיִד (כתיב צידה) :

27:4

Make it into a tasty dish, the way I like it, and bring it to me to eat. My soul will then bless you before I die.' 
Va'aseh-li mat'amim ka'asher ahavti vehavi'ah li ve'ochelah ba'avur tevarechecha nafshi beterem amut.

דוַֽעֲשֵׂה־לִ֨י מַטְעַמִּ֜ים כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהַ֛בְתִּי וְהָבִ֥יאָה לִּ֖י וְאֹכֵ֑לָה בַּֽעֲב֛וּר תְּבָֽרֶכְךָ֥ נַפְשִׁ֖י בְּטֶ֥רֶם אָמֽוּת:

27:5

Rebecca had been listening while Isaac was speaking to Esau, his son. Esau went out to the field to trap some game and bring it home. 
VeRivkah shoma'at bedaber Yitschak el-Esav beno vayelech Esav hasadeh latsud tsa'id lehavi.

הוְרִבְקָ֣ה שֹׁמַ֔עַת בְּדַבֵּ֣ר יִצְחָ֔ק אֶל־עֵשָׂ֖ו בְּנ֑וֹ וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ עֵשָׂו֙ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה לָצ֥וּד צַ֖יִד לְהָבִֽיא:

27:6

Rebecca said to her son Jacob, 'I just heard your father speaking to your brother Esau. He said, 
VeRivkah amrah el-Ya'akov benah lemor hineh shamati et-avicha medaber el-Esav achicha lemor.

ווְרִבְקָה֙ אָ֣מְרָ֔ה אֶל־יַֽעֲקֹ֥ב בְּנָ֖הּ לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֵּ֤ה שָׁמַ֨עְתִּי֙ אֶת־אָבִ֔יךָ מְדַבֵּ֛ר אֶל־עֵשָׂ֥ו אָחִ֖יךָ לֵאמֹֽר:

27:7

'Bring me some game and prepare it into something tasty. I will eat it and bless you in God's presence before I die.' 
Havi'ah li tsa'id va'aseh-li mat'amim ve'ochelah va'avarechecha lifney Adonay lifney moti.

זהָבִ֨יאָה לִּ֥י צַ֛יִד וַֽעֲשֵׂה־לִ֥י מַטְעַמִּ֖ים וְאֹכֵ֑לָה וַֽאֲבָֽרֶכְכָ֛ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתִֽי:

27:8

Now, my son, listen to me. Heed my instructions carefully.
Ve'atah veni shma bekoli la'asher ani metsavah otach.

חוְעַתָּ֥ה בְנִ֖י שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֑י לַֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֖י מְצַוָּ֥ה אֹתָֽךְ:

27:9

Go to the sheep and take two choice young kids. I will prepare them with a tasty recipe, just the way your father likes them. 
Lech-na el-hatson vekach-li misham shney gedayey izim tovim ve'e'eseh otam mat'amim le'avicha ka'asher ahev.

טלֶךְ־נָא֙ אֶל־הַצֹּ֔אן וְקַח־לִ֣י מִשָּׁ֗ם שְׁנֵ֛י גְּדָיֵ֥י עִזִּ֖ים טֹבִ֑ים וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֨ה אֹתָ֧ם מַטְעַמִּ֛ים לְאָבִ֖יךָ כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהֵֽב:

27:10

You must then bring it to your father, so that he will eat it and bless you before he dies.' 
Veheveta le'avicha ve'achal ba'avur asher yevarechecha lifney moto.

יוְהֵֽבֵאתָ֥ לְאָבִ֖יךָ וְאָכָ֑ל בַּֽעֲבֻ֛ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְבָֽרֶכְךָ֖ לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתֽוֹ:

27:11

'But my brother Esau is hairy,' replied Jacob. 'I am smooth-skinned. 
Vayomer Ya'akov el-Rivkah imo hen Esav achi ish sa'ir ve'anochi ish chalak.

יאוַיֹּ֣אמֶר יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב אֶל־רִבְקָ֖ה אִמּ֑וֹ הֵ֣ן עֵשָׂ֤ו אָחִי֙ אִ֣ישׁ שָׂעִ֔ר וְאָֽנֹכִ֖י אִ֥ישׁ חָלָֽק:

27:12

Suppose my father touches me. He will realize that I am an impostor! I will gain a curse rather than a blessing!' 
Ulay yemusheni avi vehayiti ve'eynav kimtate'a veheveti alay klalah velo verachah.

יבאוּלַ֤י יְמֻשֵּׁ֨נִי֙ אָבִ֔י וְהָיִ֥יתִי בְעֵינָ֖יו כִּמְתַעְתֵּ֑עַ וְהֵֽבֵאתִ֥י עָלַ֛י קְלָלָ֖ה וְלֹ֥א בְרָכָֽה:

27:13

'Let any curse be on me, my son,' said the mother.' But listen to me. Go, bring me what I asked.' 
Vatomer lo imo alay kilelatecha beni ach shma bekoli velech kach-li.

יגוַתֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ אִמּ֔וֹ עָלַ֥י קִלְלָֽתְךָ֖ בְּנִ֑י אַ֛ךְ שְׁמַ֥ע בְּקֹלִ֖י וְלֵ֥ךְ קַח־לִֽי:

27:14

[Jacob] went and fetched what his mother had requested. She took [the kids] and prepared them, using the tasty recipe that [Jacob's] father liked best. 
Vayelech vayikach vayave le'imo vata'as imo mat'amim ka'asher ahev aviv.

ידוַיֵּ֨לֶךְ֙ וַיִּקַּ֔ח וַיָּבֵ֖א לְאִמּ֑וֹ וַתַּ֤עַשׂ אִמּוֹ֙ מַטְעַמִּ֔ים כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר אָהֵ֥ב אָבִֽיו:

27:15

Rebecca then took her older son Esau's best clothing, which she had in her keeping, and put them on her younger son Jacob. 
Vatikach Rivkah et-bigdey Esav benah hagadol hachamudot asher itah babayit vatalbesh et-Ya'akov benah hakatan.

טווַתִּקַּ֣ח רִ֠בְקָ֠ה אֶת־בִּגְדֵ֨י עֵשָׂ֜ו בְּנָ֤הּ הַגָּדֹל֙ הַֽחֲמֻדֹ֔ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתָּ֖הּ בַּבָּ֑יִת וַתַּלְבֵּ֥שׁ אֶת־יַֽעֲקֹ֖ב בְּנָ֥הּ הַקָּטָֽן:

27:16

She [also] placed the young goats' skins on his arms and on the hairless parts of his neck. 
Ve'et orot gedayey ha'izim hilbishah al-yadav ve'al chelkat tsav'arav.

טזוְאֵ֗ת עֹרֹת֙ גְּדָיֵ֣י הָֽעִזִּ֔ים הִלְבִּ֖ישָׁה עַל־יָדָ֑יו וְעַ֖ל חֶלְקַ֥ת צַוָּארָֽיו:

27:17

Rebecca handed to her son Jacob the delicacy, and the bread she had baked. 
Vatiten et-hamat'amim ve'et-halechem asher asatah beyad Ya'akov benah.

יזוַתִּתֵּ֧ן אֶת־הַמַּטְעַמִּ֛ים וְאֶת־הַלֶּ֖חֶם אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑תָה בְּיַ֖ד יַֽעֲקֹ֥ב בְּנָֽהּ:

27:18

He came to his father. 'Father.'

'Yes. Who are you, my son?' 
Vayavo el-aviv vayomer avi vayomer hineni mi atah beni.

יחוַיָּבֹ֥א אֶל־אָבִ֖יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אָבִ֑י וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הִנֶּ֔נִּי מִ֥י אַתָּ֖ה בְּנִֽי:

27:19

'It is I, Esau, your first-born,' said Jacob. 'I have done as you asked. Sit up, and eat the game I trapped, so that your soul will bless me.' 
Vayomer Ya'akov el-aviv anochi Esav bechorecha asiti ka'asher dibarta elay kum-na shevah ve'achlah mitse'idi ba'avur tevarachani nafshecha.

יטוַיֹּ֨אמֶר יַֽעֲקֹ֜ב אֶל־אָבִ֗יו אָֽנֹכִי֙ עֵשָׂ֣ו בְּכֹרֶ֔ךָ עָשִׂ֕יתִי כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ אֵלָ֑י קֽוּם־נָ֣א שְׁבָ֗ה וְאָכְלָה֙ מִצֵּידִ֔י בַּֽעֲב֖וּר תְּבָֽרֲכַ֥נִּי נַפְשֶֽׁךָ:

27:20

'How did you find it so quickly, my son?' asked Isaac.

'God your Lord was with me.' 
Vayomer Yitschak el-beno mah-zeh miharta limtso beni vayomer ki hikrah Adonay Eloheycha lefanay.

כוַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִצְחָק֙ אֶל־בְּנ֔וֹ מַה־זֶּ֛ה מִהַ֥רְתָּ לִמְצֹ֖א בְּנִ֑י וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כִּ֥י הִקְרָ֛ה יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ לְפָנָֽי:

27:21

'Come closer to me,' said Isaac to Jacob. 'Let me touch you, my son. Are you really Esau or not?' 
Vayomer Yitschak el-Ya'akov gshah-na va'amushecha beni ha'atah zeh bni Esav im-lo.

כאוַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִצְחָק֙ אֶל־יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב גְּשָׁה־נָּ֥א וַֽאֲמֻֽשְׁךָ֖ בְּנִ֑י הַֽאַתָּ֥ה זֶ֛ה בְּנִ֥י עֵשָׂ֖ו אִם־לֹֽא:

27:22

Jacob came closer to his father Isaac, and [Isaac] touched him. He said, 'The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.' 
Vayigash Ya'akov el-Yitschak aviv vayemushehu vayomer hakol kol-Ya'akov vehayadayim yedey Esav.

כבוַיִּגַּ֧שׁ יַֽעֲקֹ֛ב אֶל־יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו וַיְמֻשֵּׁ֑הוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הַקֹּל֙ ק֣וֹל יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב וְהַיָּדַ֖יִם יְדֵ֥י עֵשָֽׂו:

27:23

He did not realize who it was because there was hair on [Jacob's] arms, just like those of his brother Esau. [Isaac] was about to bless him. 
Velo hikiro ki-hayu yadav kidey Esav achiv se'irot vayevarechehu.

כגוְלֹ֣א הִכִּיר֔וֹ כִּֽי־הָי֣וּ יָדָ֗יו כִּידֵ֛י עֵשָׂ֥ו אָחִ֖יו שְׂעִרֹ֑ת וַיְבָֽרֲכֵֽהוּ:

27:24

'But are you really my son Esau?'

'I am.' 
Vayomer atah zeh beni Esav vayomer ani.

כדוַיֹּ֕אמֶר אַתָּ֥ה זֶ֖ה בְּנִ֣י עֵשָׂ֑ו וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אָֽנִי:

27:25

'Then serve me [the food]. I will eat the game that my son trapped, so that my soul may bless you.'

[Jacob] served it, and [Isaac] ate. He then brought [Isaac] some wine, and he drank it. 
Vayomer hagishah li ve'ochlah mitse'id beni lema'an tevarechecha nafshi vayagesh-lo vayochal vayave-lo yayin vayesht.

כהוַיֹּ֗אמֶר הַגִּ֤שָׁה לִּי֙ וְאֹֽכְלָה֙ מִצֵּ֣יד בְּנִ֔י לְמַ֥עַן תְּבָֽרֶכְךָ֖ נַפְשִׁ֑י וַיַּגֶּשׁ־לוֹ֙ וַיֹּאכַ֔ל וַיָּ֧בֵא ל֦וֹ יַ֖יִן וַיֵּֽשְׁתְּ:

27:26

His father Isaac said to him, 'Come closer and kiss me, my son.' 
Vayomer elav Yitschak aviv gshah-na ushakah-li beni.

כווַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו יִצְחָ֣ק אָבִ֑יו גְּשָׁה־נָּ֥א וּֽשֲׁקָה־לִּ֖י בְּנִֽי:

27:27

[Jacob] approached and kissed him. [Isaac] smelled the fragrance of his garments, and blessed him.

He said, 'See, my son's fragrance is like the perfume of a field blessed by God. 
Vayigash vayishak-lo vayarach et-re'ach begadav vayevarechehu vayomer re'eh re'ach beni kere'ach sadeh asher beracho Adonay.

כזוַיִּגַּשׁ֙ וַיִּשַּׁק־ל֔וֹ וַיָּ֛רַח אֶת־רֵ֥יחַ בְּגָדָ֖יו וַיְבָֽרֲכֵ֑הוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר רְאֵה֙ רֵ֣יחַ בְּנִ֔י כְּרֵ֣יחַ שָׂדֶ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּֽרֲכ֖וֹ יְהֹוָֽה:

27:28

Sixth Reading
'May God grant you the dew of heaven and the fat of the earth, much grain and wine. 
Veyiten-lecha ha'Elohim mital hashamayim umishmaney ha'arets verov dagan vetirosh.

כחוְיִתֶּן־לְךָ֙ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים מִטַּ֨ל הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וּמִשְׁמַנֵּ֖י הָאָ֑רֶץ וְרֹ֥ב דָּגָ֖ן וְתִירֽשׁ:

27:29

Nations will serve you; governments will bow down to you. You shall be like a lord over your brother; your mother's children will prostrate themselves to you.Those who curse you are cursed, and those who bless you are blessed.' 
Ya'avducha amim veyishtachavu lecha le'umim heveh gevir le'achecha veyishtachavu lecha beney imecha orereycha arur umevarachecha baruch.

כטיַֽעַבְד֣וּךָ עַמִּ֗ים וְיִשְׁתַּֽחֲו֤וּ (כתיב וישתחו) לְךָ֙ לְאֻמִּ֔ים הֱוֵ֤ה גְבִיר֙ לְאַחֶ֔יךָ וְיִשְׁתַּֽחֲו֥וּ לְ֖ךָ בְּנֵ֣י אִמֶּ֑ךָ אֹֽרֲרֶ֣יךָ אָר֔וּר וּמְבָֽרֲכֶ֖יךָ בָּרֽוּךְ:

27:30

Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob had just left his father Isaac, when his brother Esau came back from his hunt. 
Vayehi ka'asher kilah Yitschak levarech et-Ya'akov vayehi ach yatso yatsa Ya'akov me'et peney Yitschak aviv ve'Esav achiv ba mitse'ido.

לוַיְהִ֗י כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֨ר כִּלָּ֣ה יִצְחָק֘ לְבָרֵ֣ךְ אֶת־יַֽעֲקֹב֒ וַיְהִ֗י אַ֣ךְ יָצֹ֤א יָצָא֙ יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב מֵאֵ֥ת פְּנֵ֖י יִצְחָ֣ק אָבִ֑יו וְעֵשָׂ֣ו אָחִ֔יו בָּ֖א מִצֵּידֽוֹ:

27:31

He had also prepared a delicacy and brought it to his father. 'Let my father get up and eat his son's venison,' he said, 'so that your soul may bless me.' 
Vaya'as gam-hu mat'amim vayave le-aviv vayomer le-aviv yakum avi veyochal mitse'id beno ba'avur tevarachani nafsecha.

לאוַיַּ֤עַשׂ גַּם־הוּא֙ מַטְעַמִּ֔ים וַיָּבֵ֖א לְאָבִ֑יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאָבִ֗יו יָקֻ֤ם אָבִי֙ וְיֹאכַל֙ מִצֵּ֣יד בְּנ֔וֹ בַּֽעֲבֻ֖ר תְּבָֽרֲכַ֥נִּי נַפְשֶֽׁךָ:

27:32

'Who are you?' asked his father Isaac.

'I am your first-born, Esau.' he replied. 
Vayomer lo Yitschak aviv mi-atah vayomer ani bincha bechorecha Esav.

לבוַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֛וֹ יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו מִי־אָ֑תָּה וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אֲנִ֛י בִּנְךָ֥ בְכֹֽרְךָ֖ עֵשָֽׂו:

27:33

Isaac was seized with a violent fit of trembling. 'Who....where....is the one who trapped game and just served it to me? I ate it all before you came and I blessed him. The blessing will remain his'. 
Vayecherad Yitschak charadah gdolah ad-me'od vayomer mi-efo hu hatsad-tsa'id vayave li va'ochal mikol beterem tavo va'avarachehu gam-baruch yihyeh.

לגוַיֶּֽחֱרַ֨ד יִצְחָ֣ק חֲרָדָה֘ גְּדֹלָ֣ה עַד־מְאֹד֒ וַיֹּ֡אמֶר מִֽי־אֵפ֡וֹא ה֣וּא הַצָּֽד־צַ֩יִד֩ וַיָּ֨בֵא לִ֜י וָֽאֹכַ֥ל מִכֹּ֛ל בְּטֶ֥רֶם תָּב֖וֹא וָֽאֲבָֽרֲכֵ֑הוּ גַּם־בָּר֖וּךְ יִֽהְיֶֽה:

27:34

When Esau heard his father's words, he let out a most loud and bitter scream. 'Bless me too, Father,' he pleaded. 
Kishmo'a Esav et-divrey aviv vayits'ak tse'akah gdolah umarah ad-me'od vayomer le'aviv baracheni gam-ani avi.

לדכִּשְׁמֹ֤עַ עֵשָׂו֙ אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֣י אָבִ֔יו וַיִּצְעַ֣ק צְעָקָ֔ה גְּדֹלָ֥ה וּמָרָ֖ה עַד־מְאֹ֑ד וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאָבִ֔יו בָּֽרֲכֵ֥נִי גַם־אָ֖נִי אָבִֽי:

27:35

'Your brother came with deceit, and he already took your blessing.' 
Vayomer ba achicha bemirmah vayikach birchatecha.

להוַיֹּ֕אמֶר בָּ֥א אָחִ֖יךָ בְּמִרְמָ֑ה וַיִּקַּ֖ח בִּרְכָתֶֽךָ:

27:36

'Isn't he truly named Jacob (Ya'akov)! He went behind my back (akav) twice. First he took my birthright, and now he took my blessing!'

[Esau] pleaded, 'Couldn't you have saved me a blessing too?' 
Vayomer hachi kara shmo Ya'akov vayakveni zeh fa'amayim et-bechorati lakach vehineh atah lakach birchati vayomar halo-atsalta li berachah.

לווַיֹּ֡אמֶר הֲכִי֩ קָרָ֨א שְׁמ֜וֹ יַֽעֲקֹ֗ב וַיַּעְקְבֵ֨נִי֙ זֶ֣ה פַעֲמַ֔יִם אֶת־בְּכֹֽרָתִ֣י לָקָ֔ח וְהִנֵּ֥ה עַתָּ֖ה לָקַ֣ח בִּרְכָתִ֑י וַיֹּאמַ֕ר הֲלֹֽא־אָצַ֥לְתָּ לִּ֖י בְּרָכָֽה:

27:37

Isaac tried to answer. 'But I made him like a lord over you,' he said. 'I have given him all his brothers as slaves. I have associated him with the grain and the wine. Where....what....can I do for you, my son?' 
Vaya'an Yitschak vayomer le-Esav hen gevir samtiv lach ve'et-kol-echav natati lo la'avadim vedagan vetirosh semachtiv ulecha efo mah e'eseh beni.

לזוַיַּ֨עַן יִצְחָ֜ק וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְעֵשָׂ֗ו הֵ֣ן גְּבִ֞יר שַׂמְתִּ֥יו לָךְ֙ וְאֶת־כָּל־אֶחָ֗יו נָתַ֤תִּי לוֹ֙ לַֽעֲבָדִ֔ים וְדָגָ֥ן וְתִיר֖שׁ סְמַכְתִּ֑יו וּלְכָ֣ה אֵפ֔וֹא מָ֥ה אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה בְּנִֽי:

27:38

Esau said to his father, 'Is there only one blessing you have, my father? Father! Bless me too!' Esau raised his voice and began to weep. 
Vayomer Esav el-aviv havrachah achat hi-lecha avi baracheni gam-ani avi vayisa Esav kolo vayevk.

לחוַיֹּ֨אמֶר עֵשָׂ֜ו אֶל־אָבִ֗יו הַֽבֲרָכָ֨ה אַחַ֤ת הִֽוא־לְךָ֙ אָבִ֔י בָּֽרֲכֵ֥נִי גַם־אָ֖נִי אָבִ֑י וַיִּשָּׂ֥א עֵשָׂ֛ו קֹל֖וֹ וַיֵּֽבְךְּ:

27:39

His father Isaac then replied and said, 'The fat places of the earth can still be your dwelling, and [you can still have] the dew of heaven. 
Vaya'an Yitschak aviv vayomer elav hineh mishmaney ha'arets yihyeh moshavecha umital hashamayim me'al.

לטוַיַּ֛עַן יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֑יו הִנֵּ֞ה מִשְׁמַנֵּ֤י הָאָ֨רֶץ֙ יִֽהְיֶ֣ה מֽוֹשָׁבֶ֔ךָ וּמִטַּ֥ל הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם מֵעָֽל:

27:40

But you shall live by your sword. You may have to serve your brother, but when your complaints mount up, you will throw his yoke off your neck.' 
Ve'al-charbecha tichyeh ve'et-achicha ta'avod vehayah ka'asher tarid ufarakta ulo me'al tsavarecha.

מוְעַל־חַרְבְּךָ֣ תִֽחְיֶ֔ה וְאֶת־אָחִ֖יךָ תַּֽעֲבֹ֑ד וְהָיָה֙ כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר תָּרִ֔יד וּפָֽרַקְתָּ֥ עֻלּ֖וֹ מֵעַ֥ל צַוָּארֶֽךָ:

27:41

Esau was furious at Jacob because of the blessing that his father had given him. He said to himself, 'The days of mourning for my father will be here soon. I will then be able to kill my brother Jacob.' 
Vayistom Esav et-Ya'akov al-habrachah asher beracho aviv vayomer Esav belibo yikrevu yemey evel avi ve'ahargah et-Ya'akov achi.

מאוַיִּשְׂטֹ֤ם עֵשָׂו֙ אֶת־יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב עַל־הַ֨בְּרָכָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּֽרֲכ֖וֹ אָבִ֑יו וַיֹּ֨אמֶר עֵשָׂ֜ו בְּלִבּ֗וֹ יִקְרְבוּ֙ יְמֵי֙ אֵ֣בֶל אָבִ֔י וְאַֽהַרְגָ֖ה אֶת־יַֽעֲקֹ֥ב אָחִֽי:

27:42

Her older son's plans were reported to Rebecca. She sent word and summoned her younger son Jacob. 'Your brother Esau is consoling himself by planning to kill you,' she said. 
Vayugad le-Rivkah et-divrey Esav benah hagadol vatishlach vatikra le-Ya'akov benah hakatan vatomer elav hineh Esav achicha mitnachem lecha lehorgecha.

מבוַיֻּגַּ֣ד לְרִבְקָ֔ה אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֥י עֵשָׂ֖ו בְּנָ֣הּ הַגָּדֹ֑ל וַתִּשְׁלַ֞ח וַתִּקְרָ֤א לְיַֽעֲקֹב֙ בְּנָ֣הּ הַקָּטָ֔ן וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יו הִנֵּה֙ עֵשָׂ֣ו אָחִ֔יךָ מִתְנַחֵ֥ם לְךָ֖ לְהָרְגֶֽךָ:

27:43

'Now, my son, listen to me. Set out and flee to my brother Laban in Charan. 
Ve'atah veni shma bekoli vekum brach-lecha el-Lavan achi Charanah.

מגוְעַתָּ֥ה בְנִ֖י שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֑י וְק֧וּם בְּרַח־לְךָ֛ אֶל־לָבָ֥ן אָחִ֖י חָרָֽנָה:

27:44

Remain with him awhile until your brother's anger has subsided. 
Veyashavta imo yamim achadim ad asher-tashuv chamat achicha.

מדוְיָֽשַׁבְתָּ֥ עִמּ֖וֹ יָמִ֣ים אֲחָדִ֑ים עַ֥ד אֲשֶׁר־תָּשׁ֖וּב חֲמַ֥ת אָחִֽיךָ:

27:45

When your brother has calmed down from his rage against you, and has forgotten what you have done to him, I will send word and summon you home. But why should I lose you both on the same day?' 
Ad-shuv af-achicha mimcha veshachach et asher-asita lo veshalachti ulekachticha misham lamah eshkal gam-shneychem yom-echad.

מהעַד־שׁ֨וּב אַף־אָחִ֜יךָ מִמְּךָ֗ וְשָׁכַח֙ אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֣יתָ לּ֔וֹ וְשָֽׁלַחְתִּ֖י וּלְקַחְתִּ֣יךָ מִשָּׁ֑ם לָמָ֥ה אֶשְׁכַּ֛ל גַּם־שְׁנֵיכֶ֖ם י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד:

27:46

Rebecca said to Isaac, 'I am disgusted with life because of those Hittite women. If Jacob marries such a Hittite girl, from the daughters of this land, why should I go on living?' 
Vatomer Rivkah el-Yitschak katsti vechayay mipeney benot Chet im-lokeach Ya'akov ishah mibnot Chet ka'eleh mibenot ha'arets lamah li chayim.

מווַתֹּ֤אמֶר רִבְקָה֙ אֶל־יִצְחָ֔ק קַ֣צְתִּי בְחַיַּ֔י מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנ֣וֹת חֵ֑ת אִם־לֹקֵ֣חַ יַֽ֠עֲקֹ֠ב אִשָּׁ֨ה מִבְּנֽוֹת־חֵ֤ת כָּאֵ֨לֶּה֙ מִבְּנ֣וֹת הָאָ֔רֶץ לָ֥מָּה לִּ֖י חַיִּֽים:
